the last two Saturdays, there's good news: Midnight reopens this
weekend, and we've organized a great January 7 party for you! Here
are all the details...
Two of our request-friendly resident DJs, Phae and London, will be on
hand to encourage you to dance off any extra weight you may have
acquired over the holidays.
They'll be joined by guest DJ KC, who also promises some lively
sets. He's been spinning at nightclubs for 27 years, and has DJed
from Florida to New York, D.C. to Las Vegas, and in Germany, Spain,
Ukraine, and Russia as well. KC has appeared locally at places like
Tracks, 5th Column, Lulu's, Dream, Polly Esther's, and Bar Nun (where
he was a resident in '05 for London's Calling). His first guest spot
at Midnight was a big hit, and we're pleased to welcome him back.
Over in the vending area you'll find three displays we know you'll
enjoy--Slyx Fashions, a gothic yard sale by Kerre Corbin, and
Slyx (http://slyx.com) offers some excellent quality latex clothing,
in contemporary, gothic, and fetish styles; and he'll be happy to
custom-make something that will leave you looking fabulous. He also
sells vac beds and usually has at least one on hand for demos, which
are worth the Midnight cover to watch by themselves!
Kerre, a Midnight regular since we opened back in 2002, is invariably
one of our best-dressed patrons. So you won't want to miss her
selection of unique tops, skirts, and corsets--all priced at $20 or
Jamile, Midnight's resident tarot reader, will again be on hand to
provide (donations of $3.00 and up--be generous!--appreciated) you
with some insight into what 2006 holds.
Let's start your favorite section of these mailings with word on the
drawing. Fill out one of the slips on our literature table, pop it
into the nearby cauldron, and you'll be eligible to win one of the
hot CDs we've picked for this week's prizes. They include discs from
Endanger, Moulin Noir (playing live at Nation on 1/19, btw), Behind
the Scenes, DJ Ferret, and Dancing Ferret (their great 10th
anniversary compilation). Good luck!
There'll be free cake around 12:15 to help Jessi Rose (of Weaving
Roses, www.weavingroses.com) and Mark12 celebrate their 2nd wedding
anniversary, and in honor of the birthdays of Shannon and Gelf.
(H.B., too, to Jen L., Noel, Larry B., Maria, Annie, and Becca--some
of whom may be joining us--plus Leila's and Michel's son Isaac, who's
still a little young to party at TMP!)
The usual Midnight deals are, as always, in place. Our first dozen
guests pay no cover, and they and the other earlybirds get first
crack at the free candy tray. The Meeting Place's skilled bartenders
will be serving up two-for-one drinks from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. as
well. Hungry? Don't forget that TMP serves a tasty selection of
burgers and sandwiches up until 2:00 a.m. every Saturday. They're
not free, of course, but you'll be glad to you tried one.
Happy new year again to all our friends, and we're looking forward to
seeing you back out this Saturday!
