Saturday at MIDNIGHT DC 02/25

After the cold weather the last few Saturdays, we're definitely looking
forward to hosting a "Welcome Spring" event at some point. It won't be
this week, alas; but we have put together a hot lineup that's bound to
please for Midnight's last party of the month. Here are the details...

On February 25 we've scheduled two of our request-friendly resident
DJs, Phae and Liebchen--and you know they always keep the dance floor
hopping! Liebchen's fans will want to make a special effort to come
out, btw, since she won't be spinning again until April (due to school
and professinal commitments).

This week's guest, DJ Ekestra (Sean), needs no introduction for most of
you. A regular at local clubs since the mid-1990s, he received his
first in-booth instruction from the legendary Mohawk Adam and went on
to spin on radio and at clubs in DC, MD, VA, OH, and NJ. Sean was one
of the four DJs at Midnight's grand opening in 2002, and he's been back
for us with some frequency since, including each of the anniversary
affairs. Currently he's head DJ for Tomb, the 18+ Monday night fetish
party held at the U Turn in Washington. He's promised us some "vintage
Traxx music blended wave..."

Sasha, our dedicated Vendors Coordinator, reports that we'll have two
notable ones out on Saturday for your shopping pleasure:

* The Silver Phoenix (
and promises us its fabulous "usual
collection of goods--including handmade jewelry, Peruvian Alpaca
jewelry, perfumes, and colognes." They'll be accepting cash and checks
(with proper i.d., of course), and they're also looking to feature
photos on the new site of customers wearing their new purchases. Want
to model on the web? Talk to Jenn and her crew this Saturday. They're
also very "request/special order friendly"!

* Zizuph ( made its vending debut some
time back at Midnight, to great acclaim. Its proprietor, Meredith, is
a well-know DC and VA scene denizen; and she offers a fine selection of
handcrafted soaps, bath salts, massage oils ("made with top-quality
fragrance and essential oils"), as well as hand-sewn patches "with a
spooky-cute theme" and other products.

Raid your piggy bank or ATM for a few extra dollars and please take a
few minutes to drop by both displays at some point during the evening!

You'll also want to take time when you arrive to fill out one of the
slips for the weekly drawing (they're on our literature table and go
into the nearby cauldron when completed). Prizes for February 25
include new releases from The Last Dance, Apoptygma Berzerk, and DJ
Ferret, plus discs by the Sisters of Mercy (performing live at the 9:30
Club on March 7!) and Behind the Scenes. Phae has also promised us
a "very special giveaway" that evening. So be sure to enter, and good

Around the same time as the drawing, look for another round of free
cake over at the tables closest to the Back Hall. This week we're
celebrating the birthdays of Socio Dave and Catherine. H.B. also to
Eric, who used to manage our website, Dirk, Briar, Dan, Mandi, Heather
(who's reportedly turning 18), Julia, and Michele Russell. Some of
them may join us during the course of the evening as well.

All the usual deals remain in effect. Our first dozen patrons on the
25th get in free, there'll be a tray of free candy over near the Back
Hall entrance, and The Meeting Place's fantastic bartenders will serve
two-for-one drinks between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. In addition, see one of
them (the bartenders, not the cocktails) for a copy of TMP's new menu--
which includes chicken wings, fries, burgers, and a variety of hot and
cold sandwiches, available from 9:00 until 2:00. They're not free, of
course, but they're damned good!

So what are you going to do this Saturday night? Stay home and catch
up on the laundry? Organize your mascara drawer? Count the number of
times your neighbor's car alarm goes off? Phooey. Come on down to
Midnight and join your friends at one of the gothic scene's best weekly
